Marsha Winsryg and the African Artists' Community Development Project (AACDP)
Marsha Winsryg may have gone to Africa to site see and look at local culture but when that culture reached out to her as an artist and teacher, something happened. She was asked by local artisans to take their wares back to the USA and sell them, which she did. However, as she really looked around she saw a need , a humanitarian need especially among children, that was created by the cultural devastation that was a looming as a result of the HIV/AIDS crisis. In Zambia, one out of three people are HIV positive and everyone has lost family members. Most adults are caring for orphans as well as their own children in an economy that barely sustains a subsistence lifestyle.
As a response to her question, "What can I DO?" , Marsha founded The African Artisans Community Development Project—AACDP—provides economic opportunity for Zambian artisans while generating cash support for local Zambian NGOs treating children who have been orphaned or disabled as a result of the HIV/AIDS crisis.
Their method is simple and cost-effective. Thet buy Zambian crafts from local artisans at full market rate for Africa; sell the crafts back n the United States at American rates; and then send the profits back to Zambian schools and clinics providing services to children.

The Ndustry Presents : "The Virgin Cure Movie," Writer and Director, Nyasha Vera
THIS WEEK ON THE NDUSTRY, HOSTS AKIA & NICOLE HOST, INTERNATIONAL LEADER, ADVOCATE AND FILMMAKER, NYASHA VERA!
Nyasha Vera is a Zambian born writer and producer of the Virgin Cure Movie. An alumnus of the George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs, she has over six years of documentary and independent film experience. She has recently begun her Virgin Cure Movie lecture tour in Great Britain at Manchester Metropolitan University and future engagements are currently being set in both the United States and Europe.
Her childhood was spent in Zambia and Zimbabwe, and her experiences there were the main inspiration for this film. An advocate for both gender equality issues and victims of HIV/AIDS, she has spent the past six years bringing these issues to the mainstream and her film project to fruition. She has worked hand in hand with HIV/AIDS organizations in Africa and the United States, and looks forward to raising awareness to a worldwide audience regarding rape, HIV/AIDS and its devastating aftermath.
The Virgin Cure Movie features the lives of four broken, young girls who share a common link--they are all victims of child rape in South Africa. An atrocity and common practice in this area, these rapes are thought to be associated with the “virgin cure” myth. They share their painful stories in hopes of preserving the purity and health of other infants and children, in their region and around the world.
JOIN US FOR THE INTIMATE INTERVIEW WITH NYASHA. LISTEN VIA MOBILE/LAN AT 718-766-4964 OR ONLINE AT: WWW.WELCOMETOTHENDUSTRY.COM.

Open Forum : Education in Zambia/ Current events
"When it comes to improving the quality of education, we know that teachers matter. The interaction that takes place within the classroom is arguably the biggest factor affecting whether and what children learn. We’ve seen around the world that a “good” teacher isn’t necessarily defined by his or her number of advanced degrees or years teaching; rather, good teachers are adequately prepared, supported, motivated, and compensated." Jenny Perlman Robinson
We ask, how can we contribute to education improvement in Zambia?
CURRENT EVENTS will look at events in Zambia and around the world.

Dr Ngosa Simbyakula- Minister of Justice
Dr Ngosa Simbyakula MP is the Justice Minister in the Patriotic Front government and he was the first cabinet minister announced by President Edgar Lungu in his historic inaugural speech which was held at the Heroes Stadium away from the traditional venue at the steps of the Supreme Court. President Lungu categorically stated that; "I want to hand you a new constitution. We will definitely deliver a people-driven constitution as per the road map we released recently." He entrusted Dr Simbyakula with the task of ensuring the government enacts a people driven constitution to the people of Zambia. The constitution making process has been a contentious issue in Zambian politics prior to the multi- party era and the nation has witnessed commission after commission as presidents took office. The civil society and church mother bodies have made their presence known in the process. Dr Simbyakula joins us to discuss the PF government's road map to the constitution making process. Can this be achieved before the 2016 General elections?
